| SRIVAISHNAVISM-A SUMMARY: (RAMANUJA-DESIKA TRADITION) The supreme Brahman described eloquently in Vedanta is none other than Sriman Narayan (Narayana with his consort Lakshmi). All the worlds are created by him, sustained by him and eventually dissolved by him.Yet he is always willing to come to the aid of his devotees. The entire universe consisting of living beings and insentient matter is his body.The sentient part of the universe, apart from SrimanNarayana,consists of an infinite number of individual souls.Part of these are in the eternal abode of SrimanNarayana,i.e Sri Vaikunta). They have either been there always(Nithya Suries) or have been liberated from the material world.The reminder of the individual souls are in a state of bondadge in this material universe and keep going through the infinite cycle of birth and death. Therefore the goal of life is to get liberated and reach SriVaikunta and enjoy eternal bliss.The only practicable method to achive this goal in the present age is to obtain a true Acharya( preceptor) and to surrender (Saranagati) to Sriman Narayana as per his instructions.
